On October 24th, Mobius hosted a private event at one of our Vancouver manufacturing locations to celebrate our merger with Canntech Services. Based just outside Ottawa, Ontario, Canntech, like us, is an equipment manufacturer in the cannabis processing space. You may have heard of them based on the popularity of their Cannbucker, Cannmill, and Destructocann products. Our Mobius Mash-Up event hosted LPs from provinces across Canada and even the US, with attendees getting hands-on access to our expanded line of Mobius equipment, a sneak preview of some new products in the final stages of development, and exclusive deals and prizes. The party was a blast too. For those of you who couldn’t attend the Mobius Mash-Up, we’d like to share why we feel Canntech is a great fit for the Mobius family.
Product innovation runs deep at Mobius. When designing our trimmer, we took the time to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of existing equipment and then designed an innovative trimming solution to solve the problems we knew cultivators were experiencing. The Mobius M108S is gentle on product and offers unrivaled output volume while maintaining exceptionally high trim quality. When evaluating expansion into bucking and milling equipment, we again looked at the market to see what worked and what didn’t. What stood out to us as working exceptionally well was everything Canntech has to offer.
First things first - some companies are all about making money, even at the expense of customer satisfaction. At Mobius, we see making money as a byproduct of offering quality equipment people want to use. When we first met Ryan and Terry from Canntech, we quickly learned they felt the same way about business as us. Engineering top quality equipment and being honest about its capabilities are core to who they are. That made things feel right with Canntech from the start.
The second thing that stood out was the design and build quality of their equipment. Canntech gear is topnotch. Smart and simple engineering is easier said than done, and the Cannbucker, Cannmill, and Destructocann are works of art inside and out. Stainless steel construction for washability, powerful motors to get the job done, and device ergonomics that accommodate use over long durations were all part of the design from the start. The integrated stem chipper in the Cannbucker is a unique and game-changing feature. Their safety-first mentality with no moving parts accessible to the operator mirrors our design for the Mobius Trimmer M108S. Easily accessible controls that can be adjusted to suit the type of product being processed enables customization not always available on this type of equipment.
Commitment to customer satisfaction and a reputation for excellence also played a significant role in our decision to expand our relationship from a simple partnership. Every LP we contacted to learn about their Canntech experience had an overwhelmingly positive description of the equipment and team. Many large-scale producers running Mobius Trimmers also use Canntech Buckers, Mills, and Destroyers, so we knew the products worked well together within an automated workflow. Even something as simple as being located in Ontario compliments Mobius perfectly, allowing us to better service clients from coast-to-coast.
Just because you design equipment using the same guiding philosophy, doesn’t mean you’ll actually get along in terms of cultural fit. Before joining forces was a point of discussion, we found the Canntech crew to be good people. Their core values virtually mirrored ours, they work hard to make great equipment and love to exceed customer expectations. They also have a great sense of humor and know there’s more to life than work. When you see eye-to-eye with people in terms of business philosophy, and you enjoy getting to know them personally over a beer, that’s something special you can’t pass up.
By joining forces with Canntech, Mobius is now a single source for cannabis and hemp harvesting solutions. We help LPs in Canada, the US, and around the world save time and money processing their crop. In addition to equipment, we offer full trim room consulting to help set up or optimize your processing workflow. We also offer a comprehensive training academy to ensure your team is operating at their best and to help new hires come online quickly. We hope you love the new “Mobius East” crew and products as much as we do!
