Where can we see the M108?

Our production line will be at full capacity in May, 2018. That doesn’t mean you’ll have to wait until then before you get your M108, it just means we won’t be cranking them out at full-speed until that point, so there may be some delays.

The Riveting True Story Behind the New Electrical Box Air Filter

Well, we think it’s riveting, anyways… read on! 

We’ve been receiving feedback from some of our LP partners that have opted for a dry trimming process that they were getting kief dust in the electrical box of their Mobius Trimmer M108 unit. We dug in and did some research and testing, and were able to identify the problem. Dry trimming puts a significant amount of kief dust in the air, and so at least some of it was being pulled into the air intake slot underneath the unit (just below the power receptacle). This could potentially cause interference or issues with the electronics inside the Mobius. In the immediate term, we instructed our partners to periodically remove the side panel and use compressed air to blow the dust out of the electrical box. Then, we got to work on a permanent solution.

What our engineers came up with is an inexpensive and easy to use filter that covers the air intake on the M108. It takes only about 3 minutes to install, and requires no tools. You can watch the installation video below. 

The purpose of this blog post is not to tell you about a new air filter... (although of course we geek out on every improvement we make to the machine!) The purpose is to tell you about our process, and how we are dedicated to continuous improvement.

Once our partners had identified a potential issue on the machine, our team of engineers got to work on a solution immediately. Because we have our own fully-equipped, in-house machine shop (we manufacture the M108 ourselves), our timeline from design to final product is very, very fast. Our engineers can design a part in the morning, and we can be testing it on a machine by lunch. If it works the way we want, the process moves forward to manufacturing. If not, the engineers design another iteration, and test again.

The new electrical box filter was a relatively basic component to design and test, so it only took about a week. We’ve now added them to the base design of the M108, and every new unit that leaves our HQ will have this filter installed. We’ll be sending out filters to all of our current partners so they can upgrade their own M108s.

A problem is identified. We design a solution. We get it to our partners, ASAP. That’s how we operate here at Mobius. We are dedicated to constant innovation and improvement.
